The ups and downs of family life are often kept behind closed doors — but not so for Tori Spelling and husband Dean McDermott. During the past season of her reality show "True Tori," the couple's domestic issues ended up playing out on camera. So why does Spelling keep doing it?
"This is our real life," she told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb on TODAY Monday. "'True Tori' is as real as it gets."

Spelling invited Dean's ex Mary Jo on the show
While Dean and Mary Jo were married, he cheated on her with Spelling, who wanted to offer an apology. Did Mary Jo accept? "She was happy that I was apologizing and she accepted that, but she wanted me to know that I should own it. Her belief is that Dean and I take 50/50 in what we did."
She knows the adultery was a bad idea
"Karma is a bitch? I've heard that so much. Yes, Twitter, I've heard that a lot," she said.
After such a painful season, she still wants to continue
"I personally like doing it. For me, it works. It's individual, I know it's not for everyone.... It's cathartic. It's therapy for me."
Dean did step up during her recent hospitalization
When Spelling recently spent time in the hospital with bronchitis, she was impressed with how her husband took care of business — and their four kids. "He really stepped up, and that was the big thing on the show this season, I was like, 'Step up and take care of the kids. You've been away, you've been dealing with yourself for so long, come back to us.' And he has, in a big way."
About the gray in her hair....
Extensions. Spelling was interviewed wearing her usual bright blonde locks, but underneath were curls of gray to match her top. "I needed something different. It's so much like 'Is Tori OK? What's wrong with Tori?' and I was like, 'I need something clean and new and fresh' — and this is it."
