Musical legend Tony Bennett may be 87, but don't expect him to retire any time soon — he can still pack in the fans for a performance, as he'll do on Oct. 11 at New York City's Radio City Music Hall. But first, Bennett dropped by the TODAY studio Wednesday to sing "One for My Baby (and One More for the Road)" and chat with Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie about the reissue of one of his classic live performances, "Tony Bennett Live at the Sahara: Las Vegas, 1964."
Back then, said Bennett, Las Vegas was a very different place than it is today. "Everybody had to have a suit and tie on; you couldn't get into any casino unless you were very well dressed," he said. "Completely different now."
As to his show later this week, he calls that kind of venue (right around the corner from the TODAY studio, by the way) "intimate." "Today most popular artists, they play for 45,000 people in Yankee Stadium," he said. "I love Radio City. It's so comfortable and the people love it. It's still so beautiful."
