The 40th anniversary of the Polar Plunge took place in Chicago over the weekend, and this time around, TODAY had some fierce representatives of its own.

Since 1976, thousands of brave and spirited people across the country have taken the annual jump into Lake Michigan's icy waters to help raise money and awareness for the Special Olympics. In past years, the event has drawn celebrities like Vince Vaughn, Lady Gaga and Jimmy Fallon, who made a splash of his own on social media when he took the plunge dressed in a suit.

This year, nearly 5,800 participants jumped into the 32-degree water, including TODAY's own Al Roker, Tamron Hall and Dylan Dreyer.

All three successfully completed the challenge and made sure to snap a few fun photos as proof!

"It was an honor and a privilege to help #SpecialOlympics #PolarPlunge in Chicago this year," Al Roker captioned an image he posted to Instagram.

And on her account, Tamron Hall ensured no one was left wondering whether or not the water was actually chilly.
