Pranking your friends is all fun and games until someone gets stuck in a giant Barney head.

An Alabama teen spent a claustrophobic 45 minutes stuck in an enormous Barney costume head on Sunday, forcing local firefighters cut it off so she could breathe freely.

Darby Risner, 15, began her journey into the friendly dinosaur's plush purple head when she found it in the basement of her church during a sleepover with friends.

She threw it on to spook her pals, but ended up being the one getting a scare.

The head ended up sliding past her shoulders and getting stuck.

"Initially I'm not (claustrophobic), but when it came to being stuck inside Barney, that changed,'' Risney told Dylan Dreyer on TODAY Wednesday.

Luckily, her brother Logan was there to do what brothers are supposed to do — record it all for Twitter and Snapchat.

Four friends and a parent tried to yank off the head — at one point, they slathered Darby's shoulders with Vaseline — but to no avail. Meanwhile, it became hotter and more uncomfortable for Risner.

Eventually, the family called the Trussville Fire Department for help, and Darby and her friends piled in her mom's car to drive over to the station.

"When they walked in, you couldn't help but start laughing,'' Trussville Fire Lt. Vince Bruno told AL.com.

"We tried to be professional, and she was a little distraught, but we had to giggle about it."

After a few unsuccessful tugs, the firefighters cut some slits into the dinosaur dome and pried it off.

"It was actually really overwhelming and I was kind of stunned to see how far that it had gone, but I mean, really, it's just a big laugh,'' Risner said.
