'Teen Mom' Farrah: I used cocaine, thought about suicide
It's no secret that "Teen Mom" star Farrah Abraham hasn't had the easiest path since getting pregnant at 16. Before baby Sophia was born, Farrah's boyfriend and the father of her child, Derek Underwood, died in a car accident.
Now, in an interview with In Touch, the reality personality admits that her depression was at its worst two years after her baby was born, and she turned to alcohol and drugs to numb the pain. "When I drank, I'd be happy for 10 minutes," Farrah told the magazine. "When I got high, I'd feel a sense of nothingness for about an hour. But in the end, my negative emotions always came rushing back."
That high she mentioned? The young mom revealed to In Touch that it came from drugs such as marijuana and cocaine. Yikes.
But Farrah isn't the only "Teen Mom" who has had issues with drugs and depression. Amber Portwood, who is currently serving a five-year sentence for violating probation in her domestic violence and a possession of controlled substance cases, has admitted to two suicide attempts and has been busted with prescription medication. "Teen Mom 2's" Jenelle Evans has also faced charges for assault, marijuana possession, drug paraphernalia possession and possession of a controlled substance.
Neither Amber nor Jenelle currently have custody of their children. Gary Shirley, Amber's ex-fiance and father of her child, has custody of toddler Leah. Jenelle signed over custody of son Jace to her mother during the first season of "Teen Mom 2." Could Farrah be next to lose custody of her child?
In addition to the hard partying to hide from her troubles, Farrah also admitted to the magazine that she considered suicide when the depression became almost too much to bear.
"All I could think about was killing myself," she told In Touch. "I figured I would drown myself in the bathtub -- that seemed like the easiest way to go." Farrah also said that in the note she'd thought about writing to now 3-year-old Sophia, she'd explain that "I pictured telling her that I missed her daddy."
Not sure child protective services will be too pleased to hear a young mother not only used cocaine, but also considered leaving her young child parentless.
But Farrah insists she's working to become the best mom she can be. She told In Touch that she was diagnosed with clinical depression, but is now on medication and that therapy sessions helped her take control of her emotions.
"The most important thing is to make sure that (Sophia's) well taken care of. How am I going to do that if I'm dead?" she told the magazine.
