"Teen Mom" star Amber Portwood was released from jail Tuesday afternoon.

Portwood, whose life as a young mother is chronicled by the MTV docuseries, appeared in court today and pleaded not guilty to three felonies (two counts of domestic battery and one count of neglect of a dependent), and one misdemeanor for domestic battery. Portwood's legal troubles began when the show filmed her repeatedly punching and hitting ex-fiance Gary Shirley in front of their daughter, Leah.

The little girl was present during the alleged violence, which is why Portwood is facing felony charges, Detective Mitch Carroll told The Herald Bulletin.

The charging documents reveal that Portwood admitted that the violence against Shirley was not staged for "Teen Mom," Radar Online reported.

According to The Herald Bulletin, a judge has issued a "no contact" order that bars Portwood from contacting Shirley, but not their daughter. However, TMZ reported that the order also prohibits her from having any contact with Leah.

Portwood was jailed after surrendering to Anderson, Ind., police Monday. Her $5,000 bond was paid immediately, The Herald Bulletin reported, but she remained on a 24-hour hold until Tuesday afternoon. If convicted, she could face up to three years in jail and a $10,000 fine.
