Putting aside her own parental problems and signing over custody of her son wasn’t easy for Jenelle Evans of “Teen Mom 2.” But looking back eight months later, the 19-year-old has no regrets.
“When (Jace) is older, I will tell him I was really young, and I couldn't put a roof over my own head, let alone his,” Evans explained in a recent interview with Us Weekly.
As “Teen Mom 2” viewers learned in a January episode of the docu-series, Evans' decision to surrender custody of her 19-month-old came on the heels of ongoing and escalating fights with her mother. After one particularly upsetting encounter, Evans' mother kicked her out of the family home, and that prompted Evans to act.
“When you kicked me out, I realized I can’t take care of Jace on my own yet because I can’t even support myself,” Jenelle told her mom in front of MTV’s cameras. “I am going to start making changes, but I'm just going to sign over custody because I’m not going to go through all this court and all this money just to get the final decision from a judge.”
Now Evans looks forward to the day she can regain custody of her son.
“Once I get a job, save money and have my own place for three months, then I'll bring my mom to court,” Evans told Us Weekly.
