Telltale Games, the studio behind acclaimed narrative-driven games like 2012's "The Walking Dead" and this year's "The Wolf Among Us," has teamed up with HBO to create a new game based on the hit novel and television series "Game of Thrones."

First reported by popular gaming site IGN last month, the news of the "Game of Thrones" video game was officially confirmed by Telltale with a short teaser trailer unveiled during Spike TV's annual "Video Game Awards" ceremony. The trailer didn't reveal that much about the game or whether stars of the hit HBO show will contribute their voices. Pretty much all we know is that it does indeed exist, partly because, as Telltale CEO Dan Connors admitted to the gaming site Polygon, the developers are still figuring that out their plans.

"We're just really getting into it right now and thinking about characters — who has the most at stake, who has the biggest impact on the world," Connors told Polygon.

Telltale was a company best known for making middling adaptations of movies and popular TV shows until it landed on a critical hit last year with "The Walking Dead," a new story set in the popular zombie apocalypse-laden universe. Given the studio's taste for story-driven adventure games, many fans can probably expect a dialogue and puzzle-based game that has more in common with "Myst" than a hack-and-slash game like the many, many titles that "The Lord of The Rings" has spawned since that film series took off in the early 2000s.

Fans have therefore already begun to speculate online about what a Telltale version of "Game of Thrones" would look like, with many comic memes like "tap to push Bran" popping up on Twitter and popular gaming forums. In the meantime, watch the teaser trailer below:
