Last week, new "Idol" judge Steven Tyler proved that the show can definitely go on post cranky Simon Cowell, thanks to the Aerosmith frontman's often inappropriate comments during the program's premiere week.

He joked that he might be one young lady's long-lost father, based on their similarly plush lips. He kind of creepily admired several young ladies' appearances, commenting on their clothes and how great it made them look. But hey, he made viewers laugh and brought some much-needed fun to the judges' table.

But don't worry. Tyler's joking is all harmless fun, his daughter Mia told Life & Style magazine. "We're a very sarcastic family."

"He's the funniest man I know," the model turned photographer added. "He's saving the show because it was kind of boring before. There's only so many times you can watch Simon be mean to people."

"Kind of boring"? I'd say it was a lot boring, what with Ellen DeGeneres' endless comparisons of the contestants to mushy bananas. And though I usually looked to Simon to bring the laughs with his painfully true disses, he kind of phoned it in for his last season and gave us half-hearted zingers.

"He loves (being a judge)!" Mia told L&S of her dad. Whew! I'm not sure "Idol" can stand another season where the most entertaining person on the show doesn't seem to want to be there.

Do you agree with Mia that Tyler's saving the show?
