Stephen Colbert will take over "Late Show" when David Letterman steps down, and his celebrity pals couldn't be happier about it.

Shortly after the news spread that Comedy Central funnyman Stephen Colbert would take over for David Letterman when the veteran talker leaves the "Late Show" in 2015, celebrities took to Twitter to cheer the announcement.

Fellow hosts Jimmy Fallon, Arsenio Hall, Seth Meyers, Craig Ferguson and Jimmy Kimmel were among the first to say congrats to Colbert.

But soon support came in from all over Hollywood and beyond.

And if Colbert would like something more than congratulations — something like a little on-air support — CBS star Jon Cryer announced he's the perfect man for that job.
