Hoda rarely misses an opportunity to showcase her competitive nature…Even when it comes to being right about what kind of tuna to buy.

TODAY diet and nutrition editor Madelyn Fernstom quizzed the ladies on their grocery savvy, challenging them to decide which items deserve a "splurge" (milk, olive oil, grass-fed beef) and which ones are okay to scrimp on (tuna, fruit with peels).

When the ladies were forced to split their spoils, Hoda accepted a bottle of olive oil with a "Thanks a LOT, Madelyn."

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY.com contributor. She's planning to rope Hoda in to her baseball hustling scheme.
