While “Desperate Housewives” creator Marc Cherry recently hinted that he’d like to see former Wisteria Lane resident Nicollette Sheridan return for the show’s series finale, it looks like that just won’t happen.

Sheridan stopped by TODAY Monday morning and expressed surprise at the thought of such a return.

“That’s news to me,” she said. “I had an amazing time playing that character. I loved her dearly, but they killed her! She’s dead.”

And as far as the late Edie Britt’s off-screen alter ego is concerned, there’s no coming back from that.

Of course, even if Sheridan’s character were alive and well, it seems unlikely the actress would be eager to return the primetime soap. In 2010, Sheridan filed a $20 million lawsuit against Cherry and ABC alleging that Cherry assaulted her and that she was wrongfully terminated. The case is expected to go to trial in October.
