"Saturday Night Live" delivered the Deflate-Gate parody we all needed this week, opening the Blake-Shelton-hosted episode with a take on the NFL scandal's press conferences.
The skit features New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, played by Beck Bennett, "taking this very seriously" by "dressing up," and then throwing Taran Killam's Tom Brady under the bus, adding that who could really trust anyone as rich and good looking as Brady.
After poking fun at Brady's "vintage hat" and inability to understand science, Kate McKinnon and Bobby Moynihan, who played the Pats' gear manager, turned the skit into a take on Jack Nicholson and Tom Cruise's dramatic "You can't handle the truth!" scene from "A Few Good Men."
Also borrowing from famous movie scenes, a skit titled "Parole Board" featured Kenan Thompson as a convict using Red's parole monologue from "Shawshank Redemption," only to reveal that he is in fact an unrepentant cannibal.
Host and musical guest Blake Shelton played into his southern charm, appearing as the star of a Bachelor-like reality dating show called "Farm Hunk."
The episode also saw the introduction of a new Weekend Update guest, Riblet, played by Bobby Moynihan, who is Michael Che's high school friend out to prove that it's not hard to be a Weekend Update anchor.
J.K. Simmons will host the show on Jan. 31 with musical guest D'Angelo.
