Just one day after Steven Tyler announced he was leaving "American Idol," host Ryan Seacrest has confirmed that Jennifer Lopez will also be departing the show's panel.

"Just confirmed with @JLo she's made up her mind...will leave idol. :( gonna miss her," he tweeted.

The singer made the announcement when she did an interview with "On Air With Ryan Seacrest" Friday morning.

"I really was dreading this phone call with you," Lopez told Seacrest. "I honestly feel the time has come that I have to get back to doing the other things that I do that I've put kind of on hold because I love 'Idol' so much. ... I could keep just doing 'Idol' for the rest of my life, but that would be giving up a bunch of other things and I just ... I don't know. We had an amazing run."

Seacrest offered to be her assistant to give the time to do all she wants and convince her, but it wasn't enough for the superstar.

"I just don't know if I could be there every single day, all the time, the way we've been doing the past two years. ... You know how it is!" Lopez responded, confirming to the "Idol" host that she had made up her mind to leave.

"The time  has come," she said.

Lopez's rep, Mark Young, also told the Associated Press that the singer would not be returning for season 12.

Fox and FremantleMedia, the production company behind "Idol," had no comment.

Several names had surfaced earlier this week as possible judges for next season, including current "Idol" mentor will.i.am, season eight runner-up Adam Lambert, Katy Perry, Miley Cyrus and Nicki Minaj.

With J.Lo also leaving, do you think original judge Randy Jackson needs to stay? Or should "Idol" get a whole new panel? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
