Young Aidan Ellis was not having a very good day on Wednesday. At least, at first. Then Robert Downey Jr. came along.

It all started when Aidan's mom Kathy reached out to the "Iron Man" star with a tweeted picture of Aidan, complete with a scratch on a swollen cheek.

And perhaps to everyone's surprise, Downey wrote back!

Then it was time for Aidan to take control of the conversation.

Downey had just the right remedy: Words of condolence and a suggestion of ice for the injury.

And it all wrapped up in the best possible way:

Suddenly, Wednesday was not a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day after all for Aidan.

It also put Downey back in the headlines for something other than walking out on an interview, which he'd done recently when a British journalist queried him on camera about his personal life and colorful history.

Well, nobody's perfect, not even Iron Man. We think what he did for Aidan was just super!
