The 13th season of “Dancing With the Stars” doesn’t officially kick off until Sept. 19, but thanks to some intense early rehearsals, actress-turned-talk-show-host-turned-ballroom-wannabe Ricki Lake can now claim the very first injury of the season.

“Look, my first injury,” Lake tweeted, along with a photo of her bruised leg, after the incident occurred on Thursday. “Don’t ask how it happened.”

Of course Lake’s Twitter followers did ask, and eventually they got their answer when the star spoke to TMZ.

“I injured myself yesterday by hitting my heel into my shin,” she said. “I’m fine.”

Luckily, Lake’s leg didn’t require a time out from rehearsals with pro partner Derek Hough. In the past, other hoofer hopefuls haven’t been so lucky.

Singer-songwriter Jewel and television host Nancy O’Dell were both forced to drop out of the competition before “Dancing’s” eighth season due to pre-season injuries.

Barring any more ballroom wounds, do you think Lake stands a chance to go far this season? Keep in mind, she'll have three-time champ Hough supporting her. Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
