Bruno Mars will have some company entertaining the masses during halftime of Super Bowl XLVIII at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on Feb. 2.

It was announced Saturday during Fox's broadcast of the NFL Divisional Round playoff game between the Seattle Seahawks and New Orleans Saints that the Red Hot Chili Peppers will also be performing next month.

The multi-Grammy winning Chili Peppers — singer Anthony Kiedis, bassist Flea, drummer Chad Smith, and guitarist Josh Klinghoffer — were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012. The longtime L.A.-based rockers have scored hits over the years with songs including "Under the Bridge," "Scar Tissue" and "Californication." They have sold more than 60 million albums worldwide.

Rolling Stone reported Friday that the Chili Peppers will already be in the area come Super Bowl weekend. The band is headlining WFAN's "Big Hello to Brooklyn" concert at the Barclays Center on Feb. 1.

The fact that the NFL has chosen an open-air, East Coast stadium to host the big game (during the middle of winter) could present an interesting challenge for the halftime entertainers.

"Everyone's putting the fear of God in me like there's going to be a blizzard," Mars told Billboard last month. "I know it's going to be cold and I just got to face it."
