Newly single Rachel McAdams, please reunite with Ryan Gosling, 'The Notebook'-style!

Yes, we know Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling broke off their engagement all the way back in 2007. Yes, we know The Notebook is just a movie. And yes, we know that both actors have seemingly moved on from their too-good-to-be-true relationship. Yes, we know Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling broke off their engagement all the way back in 2007. Yes, we know The Notebook is just a movie. And yes, we know that both actors have seemingly moved on from their too-good-to-be-true relationship. But here's the thing: We don't care, because these two are destined to get back together.

Seriously, that's what The Notebook was all about, right? Two lovers separated by time and distance who still somehow manage to find one another again against all odds. Sure, that's pretty much the plot of every Nicholas Sparks story (albeit with some sort of epic twist), but in this case we want desperately to believe that sort of love story can happen in real life, too.

That's why we didn't shed a tear when it was revealed that McAdams has called it quits with her Midnight in Paris costar Michael Sheen. The two first announced they were an item back in October 2010, and a source confirms to Us Weekly that the two are officially over.

Sorry, Eva Mendes, but it's time to start packing your bags. We don't care how cute it was that you were Gosling's mom's "stylist" at the Gangster Squad premiere, or attended her graduation from Teacher's College at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario: McAdams is available. The fans deserve it, alright?

Some onscreen lovebirds are meant to last the test of time. Don't believe us? Just watch Rachel and Ryan's MTV Movie Awards Best Kiss win for The Notebook again. We still get goosebumps.
