At the 87th annual Academy Awards, all eyes will be on the winners.
Despite some controversy over the nominations, particularly in the nominees' lack of diversity, which sparked the Twitter hashtag, #OscarsSoWhite, a panel of industry experts told TODAY on Sunday that there are some well-deserved awards to come.
"You can look forward to a lot of emotional speeches from people who haven't won before," New York Live's Andrew Rosenthal said.
Rosenthal, along with Erik Davis, Contributing Editor at Fandango.com & Movies.com and E! News’ Alicia Quarles sit down with TODAY to discuss their predictions for Hollywood’s biggest night.
Best Picture: unanimously, the panel voted for "Boyhood." "If 'Birdman' is the movie for the industry, 'Boyhood' is the movie for the soul,'" Davis said.
Best Actor: Eddie Redmayne and Michael Keaton were split for the votes on TODAY's panel. "I think it's a tight race," Rosenthal said. "And I think in a tight race you go for the guy in the inspirational biopic."
Best Actress: Julianne Moore received another unanimous vote. "I think it's a lock-in at this point," Rosenthal said. "She's won all the awards up to this point, she's beloved in Hollywood, and she's kind of overdue. She's been nominated five times; it's her year."
Best supporting actor: In yet another unanimous vote, the panel predicted that J.K. Simmons will take the Oscar for Best Supporting Actor. "He deserves it," Davis said. "This is a guy who has like 148 film credits to his name. This is his first nomination."
Best Supporting Actress: Patricia Arquette received the panel's final unanimous vote,
