"The Star-Spangled Banner" routinely gives Americans the chills — it may be a tough song to sing, but when done right it's a soaring, rousing national anthem. And on Monday night, it literally brought one football player to tears.

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Reggie Wayne was one of thousands who heard Grammy-winning jazz trumpet player Chris Botti's rendition of the tune, a solo performance that rang out over New Jersey's MetLife Stadium like a soulful, clear bell. And as the camera passed by his face, Wayne could be seen with a tear running down his face.

Wayne was truly moved by the moment, as reporter Mike Garafolo tweeted Tuesday:

Reggie+Wayne:+"An+old+wise+guy+told+me+you+shouldn't+hold+back+your+tears.+If+you've+got+tears+coming,+let+them+out."+(CONT'D)

But that wasn't all the football player had to say about the moment, apparently:

Reggie+Wayne+(cont'd):+"He+also+told+me,+'Let+your+farts+go+free+and+be+like+me,'+and+he+passed,+so..."

So, watch the rendition, and let yourself go however you feel moved.
