Miranda Lambert introduces her new rescue kitten — and shares sweet story

Meet the newest addition to Miranda Lambert's family: Curtis Loew, a stray kitten her friend picked up on the side of an Arkansas highway.

The 31-year-old country singer introduced the kitten on Instagram Thursday and wrote, "Play me a song Curtis Loew Curtis Loew" ... When your friend @harps226 comes to visit and says 'oh by the way, I picked up a stray kitten on the highway in Arkansas and it's in the garage.' And then she smiles this innocent smile. Guess who has a kitten now?"

In addition to crediting her pal, Harper Elizabeth Lundy, for rescuing Curtis, she also tagged the organization she founded with her mom, Mutt Nation Foundation, and included the hashtags #friendsthatrescue #curtisloewcat #cateyes and #ohlordy.

Lambert, who recently got divorced from Blake Shelton, is a longtime animal activist. She's performing in Nashville on Wednesday at the Grand Ole Opry, where her foundation will be helping "a few of her four-legged friends" to find homes of their own.

She's been known to enjoy rescuing animals herself. Before taking in Curtis Loew, she already had seven rescue dogs.

Just last week, she took a couple of them on the road with her to Montana and uploaded this adorable photo of them on the plane with the hashtag #girlpower.
