In the new ABC reboot of the classic show "Charlie's Angels," Minka Kelly plays Eve French, a street racer with a mysterious past who becomes one of the new Angels.

At the Television Critics Association summer press tour on Sunday, the actress talked to reporters about her character and how she's similar to Eve.

"The thing about about Eve is that because she was an orphan and she was on her own her entire life and she had to fight for herself, defend herself and sort of survive, I think I have a lot in common with her," said Kelly. "(My mom and I) moved around a lot. I also understand what it is to create your own family."

Kelly said that all the moving as a child made her more adaptable, but that's not all. "I think it’s made me a great person," she said. "I think I’ve lived a lot more than maybe people my age have, and seen a lot more. Hopefully that will help bring a lot of depth to this character, and give her a lot of layers."

"Charlie's Angels" premieres Sept. 22 at 8 p.m. It also stars Rachel Taylor as Angel Abby Sampson, Annie Honzeh as Angel Kate Prince, and Ramon Rodriguez as John Bosley.
