"Two and a Half Men" star Angus T. Jones admits he isn’t always comfortable tackling his new, more grown-up storylines on the show.

“It’s very awkward,” said the Texas native, who was one of five cast members on hand Monday night for a Q&A at the annual PaleyFest in Los Angeles. His character, academically challenged Jake Harper, began bedding young women and frequently smoking marijuana during the current season of the hit CBS sitcom.

“I mean, I am with these people on set that I have been with since I was 8 years old,” he said.  “And (I’m) doing the adult thing when I am still not an adult.  I mean, I am 18, but I am not an adult.”

And PaleyFest turned into a great forum for his TV grandma, Holland Taylor, to completely embarrass her co-star with memories of the young man's journey through puberty.

“A some point about two years ago, he had shorts on,” Taylor shared. “It was summertime. And I looked at him and said, ‘Angus, what is that on your legs?’ And it was hair! What has happened?”

At least "Men" creator Chuck Lorre came to the poor kid’s defense, informing the audience of more than a thousand: “The first thing you should know is that he is not a pothead.  He is not an idiot.” Lorre also confirmed that Jake (the butt of many jokes due to his apparent lack of smarts) will be graduating in an episode airing later this spring.

Also revealed during the panel:

  • The future of the show remains up in the air: “I am absolutely adoring the time I am having,” star Ashton Kutcher said.  “But I haven’t heard from the powers that be yet.” “It is unusual when they cancel a show that is in the top 10,” Lorre added. “I think there is hope.”
  • Evelyn Harper has a lesbian affair:  In an episode airing next Monday, Alan Harper’s man-crazed mother (Taylor) experiments playing for the other team. “Alan and his girlfriend (Courtney Thorne-Smith) decide to join their two mothers together to see if they can get something to take the heat off of them, so they don’t have to pay attention to their mothers,” Taylor explained.  “Unfortunately they REALLY get involved. Evelyn has always been the type of character who would do anything for a box of chocolates.”  SPOILER ALERT! Evelyn’s new love interest is Georgia Engel from "The Mary Tyler Moore Show."
  • Charlie Sheen may be gone -- but he’s not forgotten.  “It is in our DNA,” Lorre said.  “He is very much a part of our show and a part of our lives. We had eight wonderful years together. I am not going to pretend it didn’t happen.”
