Last week was "Fifty Shades of Grey" week on TODAY, and we celebrated with daily exclusives, interviews and before it was over, we even paid a visit to the early fan screening in New York. In short, we were "Fifty Shades" of excited.
But — and you may not have noticed this at the time — one member of the TODAY gang was a little more excited than the rest. Good thing eagle-eyed viewer Ellen DeGeneres paid attention.
On her show, DeGeneres offered up a closer look at anchor Matt Lauer's undeniable (and a bit unreal and definitely digitally enhanced) enthusiasm for the film.
The clip came from Friday's chat with stars Jamie Dornan (who plays the infamous Christian Grey in the steamy flick) and Dakota Johnson (aka Ana Steele), but when the camera cut back to reveal Lauer, well …
Good thing for him — and for other whip-toting superfans — there's not much longer to wait for the film. "Fifty Shades of Grey" opens in theaters nationwide Friday.
