"Game of Thrones" is intended for mature audiences, but just how mature should you be to watch the show? Well, according to star Maisie Williams, who watches with her whole family — including her grandmother — you may never be old enough.
"I still don't feel like I'm old enough to watch the show," the 17-year-old joked to Jimmy Kimmel Tuesday night. "And even my nan, my mom was a bit like, 'I don't think you're old enough to watch this,' and she's, like, 87!"
But Williams' mother figured out a way to help grandma get through some of the more striking "Game of Thrones" scenes.
"Every time there was, like, a pair of boobs on screen, mom would just fill up her drink with more gin," the actress, who plays Arya Stark on the hit show, revealed.
Wonder how much gin grandma needed to get through the Red Wedding scene back in season 3? Frankly, we could have all used a little help watching that memorable (and graphic and completely heartbreaking) moment.
Warning: While the following clip doesn't actually show the horror of the Red Wedding, it does show fan reactions — complete with a few expletive exclamations. Adjust gin levels — or your volume controls — accordingly!
Season 5 of "Game of Thrones" premieres April 12 on HBO.
