Theresa Caputo, the star of TLC's paranormal hit "Long Island Medium," stopped by TODAY Tuesday morning to talk about her series, but some other visitors in Studio 1A caught her attention instead.

According to Caputo, she met two spirits before she even sat down with anchors Willie Geist and Natalie Morales.
"I don't see spirits the way we see here in the physical world," the reality personality explained. "But when I walked into the Orange Room, I immediately felt a mother and father energy present — but they were separate. The father energy told me he passed from Alzheimer's and/or dementia. He was unable to communicate in the end. And then, when I was with one of the young ladies here, I kept seeing her mother following her around. ... Which, I don't usually see spirits that way, but this place is crazy in the morning."
Good to know!
After Caputo gave a couple of quick readings to the alleged spirits' corresponding family members (one of whom happened to be a TODAY stage manager), she talked about what it like to grow up with her gift.
"I just actually really thought it was normal," she said. "I grew up just sensing things that other people didn't. In my later 20s, my anxiety had become so bad because I feel spirits."
And for her, feeling spirits means just that — physical sensations.
"(Eventually) I learned to understand what a spirit was trying to tell me," she added.
Of course, not everyone believes she that she speaks to the dead, or that the dead speak at all.
"Listen, I get it," Caputo said of her skeptics. "You know, I'm not asking you to believe in what I do. This is about being able to embrace life. I see it every day and speak to the clients who have had the experience (of) how life changing it is. And I just feel so blessed and honored to be able to do that."
She recently had another honor — a spot-on send up on "Saturday Night Live" courtesy of cast member Kate McKinnon. Well, it was almost spot-on.
"My one complaint was that her hair wasn't high enough!" Caputo insisted as she viewed a still from the show. "Look at that! I would never go out with my hair that flat. It's like I just came from Niagara Falls or something."
See how her hair really looks when she travels as "Long Island Medium: On the Road" airs Sundays at 9 p.m. on TLC.
