Kathie Lee finally saw "The Hunger Games" last night, and although she was apprehensive about the premise, she really liked it.

"Did you think I would like or not like 'The Hunger Games?'" she asked.

Hoda wasn't so sure: "Knowing it was about children eating other children…"

"Not eating," KLG corrected. "Killing."

Well, six of one, half a dozen of the other. Kathie Lee said she was delighted when the movie turned out to be nothing like the "Twilight" series and instead "celebrates the human spirit." It is violent, she admitted, but not any more than "Jersey Shore." Now that she knows no children were eaten, Hoda is dying to see it.

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY.com contributor. She  assumed "The Hunger Games" was about a hot dog eating contest.
