Kim Kardashian pays tribute to Elizabeth Taylor in her latest Instagram selfie, posing with a white towel on her head and her giant diamond engagement ring on display. In the background is an iconic photograph of Taylor striking the same pose.
Kardashian captioned the photo #MyIdol and added a diamond ring emoji for good measure.
While the images do appear similar, Kardashian's 15-carat ring from fiancé Kanye West will need a pile of emojis stacked on top of it to measure up to one of Taylor's famed rocks. The actress received two monsters from husband Richard Burton — the 33-carat Krupp Diamond in 1968, and a 69-carat stunner in 1969 known famously as the Taylor-Burton Diamond.
Taylor died in 2011 at the age of 79. The Hollywood legend was married eight times and amassed a personal collection of jewelry that auctioned for a record $115 million after her passing.
Kardashian, 33, has two marriages under her belt, and before Taylor's death she had the opportunity to interview her idol for Harper's Bazaar. Kardashian asked the actress which among three of her famous diamonds rings meant the most. Taylor told her, "Size does matter, but so does the size of the emotion behind it."
The Academy Award winner also advised the reality TV star that she was "never richer than when (she) scored a big check to fight AIDS." She said, "Follow your passion, follow your heart, and the things you need will come."
