Well this is a definite letdown for the Kardashian clan: The Hollywood Walk of Fame will not be giving Kim Kardashian a star on the landmark strip any time soon, no matter how much beau Kanye West voices his opinion on the matter.
"I understand that Kanye loves his girlfriend, but that’s not the way to go about getting a star—on national TV, without checking into whether or not she qualifies, which she does not," Walk of Fame spokeswoman Ana Martinez told New York's Daily News.
Last week, West appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live to end his Twitter feud with the late-night host—and he wasn't shy about talking up the mother of his child, especially why he thought she deserves the star that she desperately wants.
"People are so, so dated and not modern. It’s like, there's no way Kim Kardashian shouldn't have a star on the Walk of Fame. It’s ridiculous, old concepts," he said.
But Martinez explains quite simply why Kardashian doesn't qualify for the honor: "We don't have a category for reality stars on the Walk of Fame." When asked why, she said, "They're not giving a performance; it's just them going through their daily lives and rituals on TV. We honor people who've acted in or directed or produced an award-winning show or film. And it's the same with music, people who maybe have gold records."
Martinez then delivered this consolation: "The committee would be happy to consider reality stars if and when they get nominated or win an Emmy, Oscar, Grammy or other major award given for a performance."
Well, Kim—looks like you have a lot more work to do if you want that star. Maybe your man can even help you with a song!
