Kathie Lee and Hoda failed a "breathalyzer" on Tryday Friday, but probably not the kind you think. The Topland Etiquette Breath Analyzer is a new little device from Japan aims to tell you not if you're over the limit, but if your breath is a little stinky.

You breathe on the stick, which rates you on a scale from 1 to 6, 1 being excellent, 6 being "death."

Hoda failed right off the bat, scoring a 6, although it's unclear what tripped the machine (coffee, perhaps? We've all been there). Kathie Lee chowed down on a little Maytag bleu cheese and let 'er rip. The results? It wouldn't even register, because it was off-the-charts bad.

"The only thing that can get rid of this is a martini," said KLG, and luckily, they had a pair on hand.

"It's alcohol and it cleanses," agreed Hoda. "Like Listerine."

Julieanne Smolinski is a TODAY.com contributor who would never eat bleu cheese before 11 am.
