Just joking! 'Sons of Anarchy' creator backs off Emmy slams

While it wasn’t exactly a surprise to see “Sons of Anarchy” completely shut out of yesterday’s Emmy nomination list — after all, it’s happened before — it still stands as one of the bigger oversights on the part of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences this year.

That’s the take from critics and fans, and if several seemingly rage-fueled tweets are any indication, that’s also the take from show creator Kurt Sutter.

“Best part of not getting an Emmy nod, now I don't have to pretend I give a sh-- about the profiteering douchebag academy,” Sutter wrote just hours after the nominations were announced. “Because you know if we were nominated, I'd be all humble and blowing smoke up their a----. Now I can stay true to myself and just be a d---.”

That was far from the only thing Sutter had to say.

“My next blog post: HOW NETWORKS BUY EMMYS. Stay tuned, it's gonna be delicious... and probably get me fired."

From there, Sutter’s curse-filled Twitter page took a turn from just angry, to angry with a punch line.

“These two academy members walk into a bar. One orders a beer. Then they both die because they're so f---ing old,” Sutter joked.

That was the first of many one-liners the writer-producer delivered before declaring that the whole angry routine was just a joke.

“Those who got the joke, laughed,” Sutter tweeted. “Those who didn't, published a story. So sad that greedy media whores must turn good fun into nasty business.”

Hey, it doesn’t have to be one or the other.

So, “Anarchy” fans, what did you think of Sutter’s rants and laughs? Share your thoughts on our Facebook page.
