16 years in 2 minutes: See amazing time-lapse of Jon Stewart's 'Daily Show' run

An amazing time-lapse of snippets from 17 seasons of "The Daily Show" is going viral.

When Jon Stewart took over "The Daily Show" in January 1999, the show — and Stewart — looked very different from the way they do now. The ensuing years have seen lots of changes and Stewart, now 52, has gotten a little grayer and a little broader (as have most of us).

But you can't appreciate how much has changed without seeing an amazing time-lapse set clips featuring Stewart sitting at his desk, reading the news over the years. Fortunately, "Daily Show" megafan Billy Chasen has created just the thing.

"I've been watching 'The Daily Show' ever since Jon Stewart took over for Craig Kilborn and I declared, 'This'll never work!'" he wrote in the YouTube notes. "This is my send off to his profound impact as host."

Warning: The video, kind of like those amazing 16 years, moves pretty fast.

Stewart signs off from "The Daily Show" on Aug. 6.
