Speck and Hud Mellencamp, the two grown sons of singer John Mellencamp, have been charged with felony battery after an attack on a Bloomington, Ind. man at his home, according to the Indianapolis Star.
Court documents indicate that on July 29, a 19-year-old man told police that the Mellencamps and another man, Ty Smith, came by his home after a party. Speck, who is 18, thought the man had punched him at the party, according to a probable cause affidavit. The man reported that Speck punched him in the face so hard that he fell down.
The Contra Costa Times reported that the Mellencamps and Smith "punched, kicked and stomped" the man.
The fight continued until the Mellencamps and Smith fled the home, and the beating was reported to the police.
Speck turned himself in to authorities on Aug. 16 and was released by 12:30 p.m. on $5,000 bond. Hud, 19, turned himself in on Monday and was also released a short time later on $5,000 bond. Smith surrendered Aug. 15 and was released on $500 bond.
This is only the latest incident in which Speck Mellencamp made headlines for his fisticuffs: In June, John Mellencamp appeared on the "Late Show" and told David Letterman, "My son and I had words and he got a punch in and I didn't," he said. "(He's) 18. He's 6'2 and weighs almost 200 pounds."
Hud is an amateur boxing champion who won Indiana's Golden Gloves boxing titles three times, USA Today reported.
