Joan Rivers' personal treasures to go on the auction block
Joan Rivers had a taste for the finer things and a love for philanthropy, so it seems fitting that many of her treasures will soon go up for auction to benefit more than one good cause.
Joan Rivers had a taste for the finer things and a love for philanthropy, so it seems fitting that many of her treasures will soon go up for auction to benefit more than one good cause.
In June, Christie's will auction off over 200 items that belonged to the late comedy legend, from gowns and jewels to artwork and furnishings.
Couture pieces, including costumes by designer Bob Mackie, and sparkling accessories by jewelers Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels and Harry Winston will be among the objects up for bid.
The items are expected to sell for between $500 and $200,000 each, and a portion of the proceeds will be divided between God's Love We Deliver — a New York food delivery service for those too ill to cook or shop — and Guide Dogs for the Blind.
"My mother's legacy as a much loved comedienne and philanthropist will be commemorated in this collaboration with Christie's and her generosity to charitable causes is something I will continue to honor," Rivers' daughter, Melissa, said in a statement.
