Jimmy Kimmel tweets Clinton family selfie to try to beat Ellen's Oscar pic
Take that, Ellen DeGeneres! Jimmy Kimmel may not have had a passel of A-list actors in his latest selfie, but as of Sunday night, he's put himself in strong competition for one of the most shared snaps. His offering? An all-smiles picture of himself with Hillary, Chelsea and Bill Clinton after completing an interview with the former first family on Saturday.
The note attached to Kimmel's tweet was aimed directly at DeGeneres, who broke Twitter briefly on Oscar night when she posted her star-studded selfie and asked viewers to break the retweet record by sending it along. It has since been retweeted more 3.4 million times, and earned $3 million for charities.
On Oscar night, Kimmel and Kevin Spacey attempted to get their own selfie retweeted more than DeGeneres', but fell quite a bit short. A few days later, "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening shared his own animated version of the selfie that included Homer and Bart.
The host of "Jimmy Kimmel Live" snapped the shot following his chat with the Clintons, held during the Clinton Global Initiative University in Tempe, Ariz. During that interview, he asked the former first lady if she planned to run for president in 2016.
"I am very much concerned about the direction of our country," she replied, but did not commit to whether she would run. She added, "It's not just who runs for office but what they do when they get there and how we bring people together and particularly empower young people so we can tackle these hard decisions."

The snapshot inspired TODAY show's Orange Room host Carson Daly to break out his "selfie stick" to do a "groupie" of his co-workers. "We're gonna ask all of you when you get into work today to take your 'groupie,' your selfie ... and send it to us #OrangeRoom and we're gonna put it up on the wall."
