Janet Jackson comes from one of music’s biggest families – but the 44-year-old singer/actress/author has yet to start one of her own – and that’s something she’s hoping to change.

“I’d love to have a family,” Janet told Access Hollywood’s Tony Potts at the junket for her new movie, “For Colored Girls,” on Monday in New York City. “But really, it’s in God’s hands. So, if it’s meant to be, I’ll have one. I hope it does.”

Last month, the singer denied rumors that she was engaged to Qatar businessman Wissam Al Mana.

In addition to a new movie, Janet is entering the publishing world with her upcoming self-help book, “True You.”

“It starts in my childhood and its not an autobiography, but there are anecdotes from my childhood, all the way until now,” she said of her book.

Janet told Tony the book will cover a slew of topics, including self-esteem, body image and weight loss.

“I wanted it to appeal to not only adults, but kids and teens. Hopefully they will pick up this book and relate to one of my stories,” she continued. “I wish I had a book like this to read when I was a kid, maybe it would have helped me.”
