Jamie Lynn Spears raising baby in Kentwood

There was talk that Jamie Lynn Spears would settle down with her new baby in L.A., but if her plans for a nursery are any indication, she'll raise her son in Kentwood, La.

Early in her pregnancy, there was talk that Jamie Lynn Spears would settle down with her new baby in L.A. If her plans for a nursery are any indication, that idea has been scrapped in favor of a more sensible plan of raising her son near the rest of her family in Kentwood, La.

A source familiar with the nursery — which is said to actually be in big sister Britney’s home — said that it’s being designed by Petit Tresor (the same company that did Jennifer Lopez’s three nurseries) and has an ocean theme. Britney is picking up the tab, and despite her weekly allowance of $1,500, the source said, “So far she’s spent more than $30,000 on it — she’s sparing no expense for her nephew.”

Jamie Lynn picked the “Round Crib at Sea” ($1,150 according to the Petit Tresor Web site), the “Bliss Nursery Dresser ($995) as well as organic bedding and baby blankets that are being made by Robbie Adrian. Britney did have one special request that seems strangely symbolic: an elephant in the room. According to the source, Britney ordered a custom-made, six-foot-tall elephant with a blue bow.

Jolie-Pitts go house hunting in France
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are no strangers to France — the couple and its family spent part of Jolie’s pregnancy with Shiloh there, and according to Us Weekly, they’re looking to put down more permanent roots.

The magazine reports that the couple made an offer on an 850-year-old stone house in Eygalières, in the country's Provence region. They looked at the $20 million, fully renovated structure (official name: Mas de la Chapelle St. Sixte) last year, a real estate source told the mag, but lost interest when they learned Pitt, 44, would not be given consent to build a motorbike circuit on the five-acre garden. "As soon as they found out it was now possible, they jumped at the chance," said the insider.

John Mayer has Xanax in hand
John Mayer doesn’t leave the house without Xanax. Why? “You can create dark neighborhoods in your mind as easily as you can create rural wonderlands,” Mayer told Best Life magazine. “And the day I realized that was one of the worst days of my life. It sent me on quite a spin. I went on a bender. An anxiety bender.”

Anxiety aside, he’s still got time to think about the future Mrs. Mayer. “I think about my wife all the time,” said Mayer. “I kind of obsess on it, and what I want to find is a person who can speak those kinds of magic words. I mean ‘No complaints’ is a great way to live.”

Setting a precedent for Nicole Richie’s daughter
Harlow Madden and Max Bratman: You’ve got a future. MTV has announced a new show called “Rock the Cradle” that will feature the offspring of popular (or once-popular) performers.

The offspring of Olivia Newton-John, Kenny Loggins, M.C. Hammer, Eddie Money and Dee Snider are lined up to participate, according to Variety. The eight-episode series, which debuts April 3, will feature the kids competing in front of their parents to become stars in their own right.
