It was an emotional night in the ballroom on "Dancing With the Stars," as the final four faced off for the first part of the finale showdown. But it proved a lot more emotional for one star than the others.
Jack Osbourne hit the stage for his freestyle routine right after Corbin Bleu's crowd-pleasing, Michael Jackson-inspired number and just before Amber Riley's impressive, step-dance infused freestyle (and quite a bit after Bill Engvall's oh-my-goodness-he-ripped-his-shirt-off dance). It was a tough spot for any finalist to stand out in, but Jack didn't just stand out with his old-Hollywood dance — he stole the show.
Decked out in top hat and tails, Jack swept partner Cheryl Burke across the floor and broke out his best footwork of the season. He even rode his cane like it was a horse for a post-dance victory lap after nailing the number.
Head judge Len Goodman and fellow panelist Carrie Ann Inaba both called it a "showstopper." Carrie Ann even dubbed it "the best fairy-tale ending to anybody's story." And when it came time to for the score, Len asked, "Where's the 11 paddle?" before going on to give Jack one of three 10s.
The moment moved Jack to tears — a lot of tears — and it must have been contagious, because Cheryl turned on the waterworks too. At that point, the pair didn't know if they would make it to the second night of the finale, since an ouster for one hopeful was still ahead, but those tears were definitely the happy kind.
And as it turned out, they didn't need to worry about the sad variety. At the end of the show, host Tom Bergeron revealed that Jack was safe, as were Corbin and Amber.
So finally, after a season of great fan support but not-so-great dances, it was Bill who bid the ballroom a finale farewell.
See whether or not Jack has what it takes to steal the show again — and nab the mirror-ball trophy while he's at it — when "Dancing With the Stars" wraps up the season Tuesday night at 9 p.m. on ABC.
