Some fans are worth their weight in gold. And some are pure "Plattenum"!

That's the name Rachel Platten's fans go by, and based on their big numbers on the TODAY plaza Friday, it's no surprise that we got an awesome concert performance.

Platten is a singer-songwriter whose 2015 anthem "Fight Song" hit No. 1, went triple platinum and has been streamed nearly 200 million times on YouTube.

She's since followed up with hits like "Stand By You" and "Better Place," all from her album "Wildfire," which was released in January.

Platten, 35, was born in New York City and raised in Massachusetts. She has been studying piano since she was 5 and began strumming the guitar in high school. Not only that, she was a member of her college's all-female a cappella group!

She's been working hard since 2003 to break it big, and released two albums before "Wildfire" became a smash. And we're thrilled to have her here on the plaza to kick off the July 4 weekend.

So were her Plattenums, who showed up early, waved their passes around and got ready for a "Fight Song!"
