Darius Rucker talked of plans for Hootie & the Blowfish to reunite when he visited TODAY in March, and the band has done just that.

Hootie appeared on "The Late Show with David Letterman" Thursday night to perform their catchy 1994 hit "Hold My Hand," the first single from their debut album, "Cracked Rear View."

Letterman noted that it's been 21 years since the band's television debut when he introduced Hootie to play "the song that started it all."

The soon-to-retire host clearly enjoyed the performance, telling the band, "You sounded great in 1994. Still sounds great!" afterward.

Rucker, riding high from the success of his country hit "Homegrown Honey," recently told Kathie Lee Gifford and Hoda Kotb, "People still ask me if we're getting back together, and we are."

"It's just a matter of doing it at the right time," he added.
