It's been a good week to be Stephen Colbert.

The "Late Show" host welcomed a couple of the big screen's most beloved leading ladies to his program Tuesday and Wednesday, and they demonstrated dramatically that he's pretty beloved himself, at least as far as they're concerned.

On Tuesday night, Dame Helen Mirren decided the usual handshake and kiss on the cheek just weren't enough when she stepped out on stage.

The Oscar-, Emmy- and Tony-winning star gave Colbert a big kiss.

"That was one of the nicest greetings any guest has ever given me," Colbert enthused. "Wow! You really know what you're doing. ... Can you imagine the number of people who are jealous of me right now?"

Well, whatever that number was, by Wednesday night it got even bigger. This time it was two-time Oscar winner Sally Field's turn to visit Colbert, and she took the opportunity to get a kiss of her own. A really big one.

"I figured Helen did it, why can't I?" Field commented after Colbert returned from a quick dive under his desk.

"You won't get any argument from me!" he said with smile.

It wasn't the first time Field puckered up on a talk show this week. During a Monday chat with Ellen DeGeneres, the actress locked lips with her "Hello, My Name is Doris" co-star Max Greenfield, too.

As for Colbert, this could be the start of a new trend. Only time (and maybe his Friday guest, Jeff Daniels) will tell.
