Everybody wants a "Sweet Escape" on a Friday, and thanks to Gwen Stefani TODAY viewers got a chance to start their weekend off early, even if they had to go "b-a-n-a-n-a-s" in the process.

She started off with a rousing rendition (complete with leopard-print-wearing backup dancers!) of "The Sweet Escape," then moved into "Hollaback Girl" and "Misery," a song she told TODAY was "about love," but "that's all I'm going to say about that."

Stefani has had us all rocking out ever since No Doubt broke big with 1995's "Just a Girl," but she's become an even bigger superstar with her solo hits like "Hollaback Girl," "The Sweet Escape" and "Make Me Like You."

She also captured our hearts over the last year and a half thanks to her romance with former fellow "Voice" coach Blake Shelton. We can't get enough of their antics, particularly from his recent birthday celebration!

Stefani didn't do a whole lot of chatting about Shelton, but during an interview she did acknowledge that being able to write about her private life in her songs (as she's done for years) was a blessing.

"It feels really incredible to share your story," she said. "You sing it, and it's like all these little Band-Aids go all over you and it's so comforting. I feel like that was my purpose, sort of. I'm honored."

Naturally, her fans were on hand to fill up the plaza early enough to watch her rehearsals, and they were very active on Twitter and Instagram!

Some were even up all night waiting!
