Steal the Look: Emily Blunt's Grecian beauty at the Golden Globes

It takes a fierce woman to rock a white gown in the rain, but Emily Blunt did so in absolutely stunning fashion. Her look for the Golden Globes was classic — almost to the point of antiquity — in its Grecian inspiration.

“The dress was quite Grecian. She wanted to look fresh and young," said celebrity hair stylist Laini Reeves, who created Blunt’s hairstyle for the evening. "Braids gives a younger feeling. It was a softer texture.”

Here's how to cop Blunt's Athenian braid:

1. Starting with damp hair, Reeves suggests using Malin+Goetz Sage Styling Crème throughout the hair, then creating a center part. After roughly power drying the hair, apply Serge Normant Dream Big Volume Spray, then dry again to make a tousled texture. This texture helps hold the style in place.

2. Braid each side of the hair inside out and cross over at the nape of the neck.

3. Secure with Bobbi pins and spray once again for hold. There you have it: simple and beautiful, much like Blunt’s pleated white gown.

“Emily was wearing a gorgeous white Michael Kors dress. Because she just returned from a sunny getaway, her skin was perfectly bronzed for a white gown," said Blunt's makeup artist Jenn Streicher. "And because we had her hair loosely back, I wanted her makeup to be soft and ethereal [with] just a pop of color on the lips to bring out the jewels.”

Here's how to get this natural-but-better beauty look:

1. “The first and most important step is prepping the skin,” said Streicher, who started with Kiehls’ Ultra Facial Cream and Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado. Since Blunt chose a matte lip look, Streicher said it's especially important to keep lips moisturized by slathering them in balm. "Then, I started on Emily's eye makeup so her skin treatments could properly absorb,” she said.

2. To recreate this subtly sultry eye, remember it's all about mixing colors. Start by dabbing primer over the entire lid to ensure the color will last. Then, mix beige and gold powder shadows together and apply over the lid (Streicher used the two lightest shades in Dior’s eye palette Cuir Cannage).

3. Mix two darker shades in a similar palette to dust into the crease, concentrating on the outside corners and adding a bit onto the lower lash line.

4. Secret tip! Streicher added a bit of coral blush on top of the shadow to give a hint of peach color. Lastly, she finished with a shimmery cream shadow over the entire lid to add some shine. Streicher chose Dior's Chimere color.

5. Don't forget the mascara! When it comes to lashes for this look, the bigger the better.

6. Complete the face makeup by using a light foundation in the T-zone and covering any blemishes or imperfections with a brightening concealer.

7. “And then, for my favorite part of the look," Streicher said of the lip color. She chose Dior lipstick in Grege and topped with a light layer of shine.

"Emily told me it might be her favorite look I've ever done on her!” Streicher said.
