CBS has released a sneak peek of its highly anticipated summer series, "Under the Dome." Based on the 2009 science-fiction book of the same name by Stephen King and adapted by "Lost" producer Brian K. Vaughan, "Under the Dome" will follow the residents of the small Maine town of Chester's Mill as they try to figure out why a giant transparent dome has been placed over their town, and how they can break through it to escape.

"Two thousand people secluded, it just gets pretty scary, very quickly,” Britt Robertson, one of the show's stars, says in the trailer, which gives viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the filming of the series. Take a look:

The characters' struggle to survive after having everything they've ever known taken away from them will be a focal point of the show. The program, which is being produced by King's Amblin Entertainment, will rely heavily on special effects.

"Dome" also stars Dean Norris of "Breaking Bad" fame, Rachel Lefevre and Mike Vogel, among others.

“People’s eyes are going to bug out of their heads when they see it," King says of the series in the video clip. " 'Under the Dome’ is going to be an innovative, exciting 13-week event. It’s going to be riveting TV.”

"Under the Dome" was first introduced to the public during the Super Bowl, when CBS aired a short promo for the show that encouraged viewers to go to the show's official website to see how their own house would look if it were placed "Under the Dome."

The show debuts Monday, June 24 at 10 p.m. on CBS.
