Cyndy Joyce credits her niece, Connie Martin, for helping her become more active, eat healthier and lose more 114 pounds. It seems only perfect, then, that the woman crucial to her lifestyle makeover would join her in a beauty makeover.

The two Florida women were chosen Thursday to become recipients of TODAY’s Ambush Makeovers.

Joyce, 61, used to weigh more than 300 pounds and relied on a wheelchair to get around before she moved in with Martin and her family.

Louis Licari, TODAY's stylist to the stars, had Joyce’s deep red hair color toned down to a more natural brown and added a pinch of gold. He also gave her some long, soft bangs.

Martin, 50, also got a new ’do, something more sophisticated and professional for work, but glamorous enough for play afterward.

The two women unveiled their new looks first to their families and then to each other in an emotional reveal.

"Oh my God, you're gorgeous!" a tearful Joyce said to her niece.
