'F-bomb anchor' reminds Hoda of her own on-air 'disaster'
Hoda and Kathie Lee were delighted by a viral video of a young newscaster who accidentally dropped a combination F-and-S-bomb on the air on his very first day on the job.
She can laugh today, but Hoda has kinda been there before herself. On Tuesday, she related an early tale from her career as a young reporter. She was sitting in for an anchor who was ill when she made a crucial flub: she introduced herself as the sick anchor.
"I'll never forget it," said Hoda. "I looked up and the prompter and said, 'Good evening, I'm Ann Martin.'"
Instead of recovering smoothly, Hoda was thrown, and basically began to speak in tongues.
"You kept digging," said KLG shook her head.
"It was a disaster," admitted Hoda.
After the incident, Hoda thought she was fired, so she went to the grocery store to buy some sad, emotional snacks. While she was there, a strange lady added insult to injury by coming up to her to say, "Oh my God, I saw you on TV. I felt so sorry for you."
Thankfully, Hoda got a second chance and has never lost her composure since.
