A boy who reportedly said he's gay, and feared his future because of it, now has Ellen DeGeneres and Hillary Clinton rallying behind him.
On Friday afternoon, the popular Facebook page Humans of New York featured a photograph of the unnamed boy, who was quoted as saying, "I'm homosexual and I'm afraid about what my future will be and that people won't like me." Hundreds of thousands of people responded to the post, with many offering support for the boy, who appeared distraught in his picture.
Clinton's verified Facebook page took fewer than two hours to respond with a comment, which was tagged with an "H," suggesting the Democratic presidential candidate wrote the post herself.
"Prediction from a grown-up: Your future is going to be amazing," reads Clinton's response, which had collected more than 73,000 likes as of Monday morning. "You will surprise yourself with what you're capable of and the incredible things you go on to do. Find the people who love and believe in you - there will be lots of them."
The next day, the boy found another powerful ally in DeGeneres, whose TV show's verified account offered even more support.
"Not only will people like you, they'll love you," reads that response, posted Saturday. "I just heard of you and I love you already."
