Dick Van Dyke treats Denny's diners to 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang' performance

Fans pay top dollar to see dinner and a show, but breakfast diners at a Santa Monica Denny's were recently treated to an impromptu performance from the legendary Dick Van Dyke at no added charge.

The 90-year-old was sharing a meal with his very own a cappella act, the Vantastix, when suddenly they burst into song with Van Dyke leading the way in his classic film tune "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang."

Customers left their plates behind and grabbed their phones for a chance to capture the moment, while dedicated servers somehow continued on with business as usual despite the delightful distraction.

As for the motivation behind the actor's surprise performance, afterward he simply tweeted, "Breakfast at Denny's, with a side of grits makes me want to sing!!"
