'Chicago Fire' star Jesse Spencer finds bright side to carrying 70 pounds of equipment
His face is familiar to "House" fans, but now that the series has ended, Jesse Spencer has joined a new kind of house -- a firehouse, that is -- with "Chicago Fire," a new series that premieres tonight on NBC. He dropped by the TODAY plaza Wednesday, noting that the job required some serious heavy lifting.
"We wear 70 pounds of gear, and the (real-life) firefighters come and laugh at us a lot because we tend to wear -- they wear it ... when they go on a run ... for an hour, hour and a half. We wear it for like 14 hours when we're shooting these sequences. It's constantly drinking water, you can eat whatever you want. It's basically free exercise," he joked.

"Chicago Fire" premieres at 10 p.m. on NBC Wednesday.
