'Chewbacca mom' spreads more than joy: Watch her musical plea to end violence

The internet-famous "Chewbacca mom" is back — and this time, there's a lot more coming out of her mouth than growls and giggles.

Candace Payne, who shared a record-breaking clip of her laughing hysterically while trying on a Chewbacca mask in May, posted another stirring video to her Facebook page on Saturday. But this one was serious: a reaction to the deaths of Alton Sterling, Philando Castile, and the five police officers shot at a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas last week.

"I've been spreading joy ... but I've found myself the last couple days being silent, because I've been so sad and so hurt by what's going on," Payne, who lives about 30 minutes from Dallas, says in the video.

"I wanted to just share with you my own arrangement of a song ... that has really meant something amazing to me," she explains before launching into a cover of Michael Jackson's "Heal the World."

Spoiler alert: Chewbacca mom can sing.

She accompanies herself on the piano while singing Jackson's powerful lyrics: “Heal the world / Make it a better place for you and for me and the entire human race / There are people dying / If you care enough for the living, make a better place.”

"I hope [the song] in some way touches you and inspires you today to make the world a better place," she adds.
